QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS THAT ARE FREQUENTLY ASKED
- Is a passport required to drive for QRT, Inc.?
Answer: No, a passport is not required. However, It is very advantageous due to the large number of units that we deliver into Canada. Passport holders are paid additional compensation for Canada trips.
- Does a drive back trip pay more than a fly back trip?
Answer: Yes, there is an .05 per mile additional pay for drive back trips.
- Is smoking or vapors allowed while driving or riding back in a company vehicle?
Answer: No smoking or vapors are to be used in any vehicle being transported. In addition, no smoking or vapors are to be used in any vans or rental vehicles being driven for QRT, Inc.
- How are trips dispatched?
Answer: If you are available for a trip, we ask that you call into the office between 10:00 a.m. and noon and notify our dispatcher that you are available for a trip the following day.
- Can I bring a passenger with me on a trip?
Answer: No passengers are allowed on buses or ANY company vehicle.
- How are breakdowns handled?
Answer: Breakdowns are handled on an individual basis. Drivers are normally compensated to the breakdown location. QRT, Inc will pay to get the driver back to High Point using the most economical and time efficient mode of transportation.
- Does QRT, Inc. pay for all expenses related to transporting the unit to the delivery location?
Answer: Yes, QRT, Inc. pays for fuel, tolls, motel, airfare/van home, etc. The only expense incurred by the driver is food and checked baggage fees If you chose to check in luggage for a flight home.
- How are the drivers paid for the trip?
Answer: Drivers receive their paycheck upon delivery of their unit and once all paperwork and tags are returned to the leader. For all drive back trips, driver’s paycheck is disbursed once all paperwork and tag is returned to leader AND all trash is removed from the van upon arrival back in High Point. Once you receive your check, your assignment is completed with QRT, Inc. until you decide to call into the office dispatch for another trip.
- How do drivers get home from trips?
Answer: QRT, Inc. will provide you with an airline ticket for fly back trips. Otherwise, a van is towed for all drivers to split the driving coming back to High Point. If a van is not towed, a rental car reservation will be arranged.
- Does QRT, Inc. provide any benefits for drivers?
Answer: No, while driving for QRT, Inc. you are considered a contract driver. You are responsible for filing and paying for all of your federal and state taxes. You are responsible for paying any personal health/dental/life insurance that you may wish to carry on yourself and your family. As a subcontractor, you are a sole proprietor or a partner and have no employees. You waive any rights to benefits under the North Carolina Worker’s Compensation Act, which may arise out of and in the course of your work as a subcontractor for QRT, Inc.
