When considering contracting for a group driving position with our company, here is what you can expect:
- Our drivers leave High Point, NC, deliver to the designated location, then return to High Point, NC.
- Our drivers can pick what days they would like to transport for us.
- Our drivers are DOT qualified and must follow all DOT guidelines and HOS rules and regulations.
- We do not allow drivers to sleep on the buses. Drivers will stay in hotels if it is an overnight trip. We cover the cost of this expense. This helps to ensure all buses remain clean.
- TeamQRT Inc. covers the cost of fuel, lodging, tolls, permits and repairs related to each bus delivery.
- Same day pay is available for our group drivers if all criteria are met.
- All drivers are contract laborers. This is a 1099 position.
- TeamQRT Inc. provides the transportation back to High Point, NC. (Airfare or van).
Driver Qualifications
- Must have a valid Class A or Class B CDL within the state they reside
- Must have a valid DOT Med Card
- Must be at least 23 years of age with satisfactory work history
- No DUI or DWI convictions in the past ten years
- Must have relatively CLEAN reports. This included but is not limited to MVR, PSP, CSA, Clearinghouse, Background and Employment History.
- Must have at least 1 full year of verifiable OTR (over the road), and/or school bus driving experience within the last 3 years.
- No more than two (2) accidents in the last three (3) years (regardless of fault) Only 1 can be DOT Reportable
- Must be able to pass Random Drug and Alcohol test at any time while available for dispatch
- Passport is required to deliver into Canada. A passport is not necessary to deliver in the United States.
CONTRACT DRIVER APPLICATION PROCESS
- Complete an application in full. Per DOT and company policy, you must grant us permission to reach out to all your employers within the last 3 years. You must list all employment within the last 10 years per DOT requirements.
- Send us CLEAR copies of your documents. CDL front and back, DOT Med Card, Social Security Card, Passport. (Passport is only required when making cross-the-border trips)
- Complete our online orientation.
- Complete, and Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen.
- Attend in-person onboarding class at our staging facility at: 6643 Auction Rd. Archdale, NC 27263
- Prepare to take your first trip from our High Point, NC facility.
CONTRACT DRIVER INFORMATION PROCEDURES:
We are a driveaway company that transports buses throughout the United States and Canada. As a contract driver, you decide how many or how few trips you would like to take. If you are a group driver, we provide transportation back to High Point, NC from the delivery location. TeamQRT Inc. covers the cost of fuel, lodging, tolls, permits and repairs related to each bus delivery, however, YOU are responsible for your own food and checked baggage fees if you choose to check in luggage for a flight home. Once delivery is complete and all paperwork (including DOT daily logbooks) is turned into your group leader, you will be paid on your Comdata Card. As an Independent Contracted Driver, YOU will be responsible for ALL your taxes. We will NOT be taking any taxes out of your pay.
MANDATORY EQUIPMENT FOR ALL DRIVERS:
- Walkie Talkie (can be purchased from the TeamQRT office)
- Cell Phone
- Screwdrivers (Flathead & Phillips)
- Adjustable Crescent Wrench
- ½ inch wrench
- Blue Painters Tape
Dispatch:
- Please call the office between 10:00 a.m. and Noon Monday thru Friday, if you are available for a trip the following day. If you are out on a trip, leaders are asked to call in the names of people in their group who are interested in going out the next day. If we do not hear from you, we will assume that you are not available. If for some reason there is not anyone in the office to answer your call, please leave a voicemail including your name and availability and we will call you back if a trip is available.
Personal Vehicle Parking:
- Arrive at the staging facility (Speedway Fuel Station) at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled meeting time of 5:45AM. The gravel parking lot at the back of the store is our designated parking area for all drivers. This area has video surveillance monitoring. There is no charge for parking here; however, it is at your own discretion. TeamQRT, Inc. is not responsible for any break-ins, thefts or vandalism. You will be brought back to this parking lot after each trip. (either by shuttle or by van).

- Drivers will be assigned a parking pass to place on the dash of your vehicle. This pass must be displayed at all times. Vehicles not displaying TeamQRT, Inc. pass may be towed.
When picking up your bus at Thomas Built Buses or any outside vendor, the following procedure should be followed:
- Verify the body number and order number on your paperwork matches the unit that you are taking.
- Complete your pre-trip inspection – this includes checking your lights, oil, water, tires and completing the vehicle acceptance form in the bus.
- Set your mirrors PRIOR to driving the bus.
- All drivers are required to have a working walkie talkie.
- Line up at the front gate in an orderly fashion. Only 1 person in the gate office at a time.
When you arrive at Speedway for fuel:
- Check the fuel nozzle BEFORE turning on pump to avoid fuel spills.
- Identify fuel type and the location of your fuel tank while conducting your pre-trip inspection.
- Wait on your lead driver to communicate when it is time to go to the Thomas Built lot for fuel.
- All drivers need to stay alert to traffic and follow directions from the TeamQRT manager when entering Speedway for fueling.
- After fueling, do not hang up the pump! The driver behind you will use the same pump.
- All drivers are required to write down current fuel mileage, fuel location (city, state)/ fuel totals and accurately keep a log of every fuel stop. No exceptions!
- After the fueling is complete, notify your TeamQRT manager.
- Never leave your bus unattended for any reason!
- Always check your bus for leaks PRIOR to leaving the Speedway.
When you are ready to depart:
- LEADERS: Before departure, make sure ALL drivers are ready to go. (This includes logbooks being current)
- LEADERS: FOR CANADIAN TRIPS: VERIFY ALL EXPORT PAPERWORK MATCHES THE UNITS BEING TRANSPORTED BEFORE LEAVING HIGH POINT!
- ONLY USE THE MIDDLE LANE WHEN EXITING Speedway onto Surrett! (See Vic if you have any questions)
While on the Road:
- Keep a safe following distance – For every 10 MPH travel speed, remain 1 bus length or more from the vehicle in front of you.
- DO NOT separate from the group. The order you leave the staging area in is the order you should stay in. If your bus develops a problem, the leader may ask you to change your position directly behind them so they can keep tabs on your bus.
- Help other group members in and out of traffic. If you see a hazard in the road, let others know.
- Drive Courteously!
- Oil, Water and Tires should be checked intermittently throughout the trip.
- When damage to a unit occurs, find a safe location and contact our office IMMEDIATELY! Do NOT continue driving until a manager has been notified!
- TeamQRT, Inc., does not allow phone use or texting while your vehicle is moving. You must be stopped before cell phone/texting is allowed! Hands free devices/headsets are permitted in states that allow. You are responsible for being aware of all state laws.
- NO SMOKING, ALCOHOL OR GUNS/WEAPONS ALLOWED ON BUSES! (NO EXCEPTIONS!)
- NO PASSENGERS ALLOWED ON BUSES!
When stopping at a Hotel for the night:
- Park in an area where the buses are not at risk of getting damaged.
- Watch each other while backing or parking. If you must back up a bus, have someone guide you! More buses are damaged during backing than any other maneuvers.
- Absolutely no one is to take a bus to the store or a restaurant. Your bus is to be parked at the hotel and should remain PARKED until you leave the next morning!
Upon Delivery:
- Check your oil, water and tires.
- Please be courteous!
- Please be presentable (i.e. clean clothes, hair combed, etc.) You represent TeamQRT Inc., Thomas Built Buses, The Dealer and yourself. You may be the only personal contact that is made with that customer!
- Be sure to note any damage or issues with the bus on the Manifest.
- Clean all trash out of your bus PRIOR to delivery!
- Close all windows and doors to keep out dust and water.
- Help the leader unhook the tow vehicle and make sure all TeamQRT Inc. equipment is accounted for and placed back in the van.
- All wiring harnesses should be handled with care. Do NOT pull on the wires when unplugging connections. This will damage the harness.
- DO NOT FORGET YOUR TAG!!! If you lose a tag or it gets left behind, there will be a $150.00 charge to any driver for this tag replacement!
- CANADIAN DELIVERIES: Leave the ORIGINAL Canadian paperwork with the ORIGINAL PARS number with the dealer. You are to return with your paperwork: one copy of the STAMPED original. There is a $1,000.00 fine if we are audited and do not have this paperwork!!
Driving Vans and Rentals:
- NO SPEEDING AT ANY TIME IN BUSES/VANS/CARS OR RENTAL CARS!
- NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED IN BUSES/VANS/CARS OR RENTAL CARS.
- If you get sleepy, have someone else drive or pull over and sleep in a rest area.
- When you get back to Speedway, fill up the van BEFORE you leave so the next group will have a full tank of gas to start their trip.
- Notify a TeamQRT Inc. manager if you were not able to get fuel.
- Clean ALL trash out of the vans! (This includes everyone in the group, not just the leader!) It is your responsibility to pick up after yourselves! TeamQRT Inc. will take care of the outside of the van.
Breakdown Procedure:
- Breakdowns are handled on an individual basis. All breakdown options, including possible layovers, will be discussed with the driver/leader.
- Drivers are typically compensated for their time and travel in the event of a breakdown. TeamQRT, Inc. will get the driver back to High Point, NC using the most economical and time efficient mode of transportation.
